Today (March 21, 2020) at 10:00 AM, in the meeting room on the 8th floor of the Thanin Nopparat Building, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Din Daeng District, Police General Asawin Kwanmuang, the Governor of Bangkok, chaired a meeting of the Bangkok Communicable Disease Control Committee under the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015) to discuss additional measures to halt the spread of COVID-19, as the outbreak situation continues to trend upward, potentially leading to a wider spread of the virus. After the meeting, the committee resolved to order the closure of establishments under Section 35 of the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 for a period of 22 days, from March 22 to April 12, 2020.


The additional high-risk venues to be closed include:
- Spas and health massage services
- Weight control services
- Pet grooming spas
- Skating rinks or rollerblading venues
- Beauty salons and cosmetic clinics
- Amusement parks, bowling alleys, and game arcades
- Computer service businesses
- Golf courses and driving ranges
- Swimming pools
- Tattoo parlors
- Home daycare services
- Home elderly care services
- Cockfighting arenas and training grounds
- Conference and exhibition venues
- All types of markets, except fresh food stalls and stalls selling essential food items for daily living
- Shopping malls, except for supermarket sections
- Early childhood development centers, public and private educational institutions, boarding schools, international schools, religious schools, and all tutoring centers
- Universities and graduate schools, both public and private, including vocational training institutes throughout Bangkok.

Furthermore, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration requests cooperation from private organizations to allow employees to work from home, while public agencies are encouraged to implement staggered work hours or alternate workdays as appropriate. In terms of public transportation, it is requested to maintain distance between passengers to reduce crowding, and citizens are urged to minimize travel to crowded places.

However, the public is requested not to hoard supplies; restaurants will remain open as usual, but are asked to adjust to takeout service only.
Fresh food stalls and supermarkets will continue to operate normally. Convenience stores are advised to maintain cleanliness and provide hand sanitizer at entrances for safety and hygiene.
